Compared to last year’s results, in November 2017, 26 per cent more passengers travelled from the second busiest airport of Hungary.Thus – compared to the results of 2016 -, passenger traffic at Debrecen Airport increased by 10,000 by the end of this year’s November.
According to László Tamás director of flight development, during the first eleven months of the year Debrecen Airport’s passenger traffic is due to the use of scheduled flights (with constantly improving utilization) and the summer charter flights to holiday destinations.
The last month of the year is always very busy as many people travel to Hungary from abroad and they visit their relatives and friends during the winter holidays. Tourism and traffic at New Year’s Eve are becoming more and more significant as well.
Since the end of this March there are direct flights from Debrecen to seven European and Israeli regions. We expect further growth in terms of nights spent in Debrecen and in the region by foreign tourists. The utilization of hotels in the region is also improving.”
New Wizz Air flight to Moscow is launched on the 18th of December 2017. Thus, Debrecen Airport is going to be the only airport in the region with direct flight to the Russian capital. Those who desire to travel to visit cultural and religious places and sights during the autumn and winter months can travel to Western European cities and to Israel as well from the airport of Debrecen.
And with a flight change at the airport of Munich visitors can take trips from Debrecen Airport to almost every German city, to almost all capitals of European countries and to any of the five continents.
