Local News Police

Six defendants were sentenced to several years of imprisonment for drug trafficking at a higher educational institution by the Debrecen Regional Court of Appeal.

The defendants sold more than 1 kilograms of marijuana between 2014 and 2015 for almost 50 customers. The customers were mostly foreign students of the university; Iraqi, Iranian, Turkish, British, Israeli, Indian, Canadian, Taiwanese, Syrian, Swedish and Norwegian students were involved.

The reason why the defendants has chosen the university to spread was that they could reach foreign students easily there.

The six defendants, three Hungarians and three Nigerians, were sentenced from 3 years and 10 months to 5 years and 6 months of imprisonment.

In Hungary, customers, who were caught by the police, are required to attend rehabilitation instead of prison.
