According to Gergely Sándor Nagy, director of the Debrecen Zoo, a tapir baby was born in Debrecen, on Sunday (15th of July). The little animal can be visited in the zoo from today (18th of July).After 13 months of pregnancy, the tapir baby was born on Sunday (15th of July). She is the third successor of the zoo’s female tapir. According to the traditions, visitors of the zoo will give a name to the little animal.
A tapir is a mammal, similar in shape to a pig, with a short, prehensile nose trunk. Tapirs live in jungles and forest regions of South America, Central America and Southeast Asia.
