A wild boar was seen in Nyulas neighbourhood on Wednesday (22nd August), two days later, on Friday evening, it was spotted in the city centre.This photo was shared by László Kecskés in a Facebook group (Debrecenben hallottam). In the picture a wild boar can be seen while walking on Nyíl street, Debrecen. Later, the animal was spotted near tram line 1 by police officers.
Recently, wild boars can bee seen in the city of Debrecen regulary. Animal lovers say that the animals are coming to the city because their living area has been extremely reduced.
Wild boar is an extremely adaptive species. Despite intense hunting, there are stable and growing stocks around the world. In Hungary, their natural enemies (wolf, lynx, bear) disappeared hundreds of years ago, however these animals are just starting to return to the country.
