Renewed and Expanded Playground in Jászai Mari Square

Local News

The renovation and expansion of the playground and its surroundings in Jászai Mari Square have been implemented as part of the Green City Programme.

The aim of the investment that concerned a total area of 3,494 square metres – of which the size of green area was 1,813 square metres – has been to create a usable, transparent, high-quality and attractive green surface that can stop the passers-by and make them stay a little while in a nice environment. The renovation and expansion of the playground have been essential to achieve this aim, just like the renewal of plants and the placement of street furniture.

The playground has grown to one and a half times its original size to the north. It is surrounded by a new fence, a paved reception area and bicycle storage racks have also been created in front of its entrance, as well as a new drinking fountain. In addition to the previous playground apparatus, two new items from an unused playground have been set up, together with five new pieces of playground equipment. The used items have been installed only after renovation, and were tested and certified similarly to brand new playground equipment. The shock-absorbing cover of the playground is made of moulded rubber and pea gravel.

József Hetei, municipal councillor pointed out at the event presenting the renovated playground and green area: „a very pleasant environment has been created here, which is not only a playground, but its surroundings can fulfil the function of community space, and so it can offer great experiences for children and recreational opportunities for the residents of the area”.
