Education begins on 1 September, when traffic is normally heavier and journey times are longer, which can possibly cause tension. It may be especially so due to the epidemic situation.
We have to take care of each other during this period even more than we would otherwise do, and special attention must be paid to pedestrians. The Municipality of Debrecen intends to call the attention of drivers, cyclists and pedestrians to this issue.
Therefore, we are making nine pedestrian crossings of heavy traffic with no traffic lights more visible – pointed out Vice Mayor Ákos Balázs at the press conference he held on 28 August 2020. The usual white colouring of the stripes will be reinforced, and red road markings will be painted between and around the white stripes to alert people. As a result of using the colour red, the pedestrian crossings will be made more visible, which will hopefully make drivers be more careful when approaching them. Thus, it will be safer for pedestrians to cross the roads in question.
