Debrecen Charity Board Celebrates Its Birthday

Local News

The Debrecen Charity Board is five years old – the institution comprising 33 civil society organisations has provided help – with the participation of volunteers – for several thousand people in need: kindergarteners, schoolchildren, families in difficulties, and also for people living on farms.

The organisation celebrated its birthday in the EU-Roma Community House in Pósa Street on 7 October 2020. Vice Mayor Diána Széles, Co-Chair of the Board pointed out: Debrecen is a caring city, which is also proved by the fact that the Charity Board started to operate with 15 member organisations, and now it has 33. They all work together to help the needy.

„I think that we have built a fortress with an open gate, so anybody interested can come in and join us. This is a strong bond – the last 5 years of Debrecen and the Charity Board – which we can be proud of, as it is absolutely unique in the country” – said Diána Széles. Éva Rózsahegyi Juhász, Chair of the Board, pointed out that the previous year had proved that more and more companies, enterprises and private individuals intended to join the organisation.
