Kánya utca will receive asphalt pavement more than 200 meters long and 3 meters wide on the section between Keresztesi utca and Szép utca, and rainwater drainage will also take place. On both sides of Kánya Street, a 0.75-meter wide road surface will be built. As part of the investment, the cul-de-sac section of Új utca will be paved for almost 40 meters.
The investment launched at the initiative of the population was reported by Mayor László Papp, Member of Parliament László Pósán and representative of local government István Kovács in a press conference on 19 April 2021 at the site.
As László Papp said, among other things, the large and comprehensive transport development program announced within the framework of this year’s budget is progressing at the right pace. Within this year, a total of 25 streets will be paved at the initiative of the population. Most of them are located in the eastern part of the city. This part of the city is also affected by the development of a bicycle path from Vágóhíd Street to Panoráma út, partly for professional and partly for tourist purposes, and the construction of an independent right-turn lane is already underway on Vágóhíd Street in the direction of Hajnal Street.
According to Member of Parliament László Pósán, the development of the garden areas – which is a priority task in the city – is not easy, because the width of the streets did not develop according to today’s requirements. For this reason, paved streets often require a one-way traffic order. On the one hand, this allows for convenient traffic, but on the other hand, the usual traffic routes need to be redrawn. The Honorable Member is confident that these developments will be welcomed by all with a good heart, and will be delighted as they will make everyday life more comfortable.
As stated by the municipal representative István Kovács, Kánya Street will be the first in the area of the municipal constituency No. 7 to be paved at the initiative of the population, but in 2021 it is planned to provide paving for Vasutas Street and the continuation of Kisbánya Street. The representative also considered it important to mention that the right-turning lane will be built on Vágóhíd Street, and the construction of the bicycle path on Diószegi út will start soon. Within the framework of the Horticultural Development Program, the city is constantly developing, and as a result, people living in this part of the city can travel in better conditions and more easily than before.
KUSZI Közmű-, Út- és Szolgáltató Ipari Mérnöki Tervező és Kivitelező Kft. won the road construction works on Kánya and Új streets within the framework of an open public procurement procedure. Depending on the weather conditions, the construction is expected to be completed by the autumn of 2021 at the latest, but it is hoped that new road sections can be enjoyed by those who do so by the end of the summer. The gross cost of the investment is HUF 28 million, which is financed by the local government from its own resources.
