Another consignment of vaccines arrived in Debrecen, this time with a single-dose vaccine sent by Johnson & Johnson’s subsidiary Janssen in the United States.

Pentecost weekend data also shows the epidemic is “receding,” the head of the National Center for Public Health’s (NNK) epidemiology department said on behalf of the operative tribunal at an online press conference on Tuesday.

According to Ágnes Galgóczi, this is due to the high vaccination rate, the protection measures and the cooperation of the population.
In Hungary, 5,026,529 people were vaccinated, of whom 3,072,940 are immunized, she pointed out. She added that the vaccination rate of the Hungarian population is 51 percent, compared to 35 percent in the European Union, and Hungary is still in second place in the vaccination rankings.

She said the number of hospital admissions and the concentration of coronavirus hereditary material are also steadily declining.

On Sunday, after reaching 5 million vaccines, another stage of restart came into effect, but some protection measures are still in place, such as wearing a mask in shops, malls and public transportation vehicles, the expert said.

Ágnes Galgóczi asked those who have not yet done so to register at vakcina.gov.hu. Hungarians abroad already have the opportunity to do this. Those who have a valid registration can book a vaccination date on the eeszt.gov.hu website without special notice.

The head of the epidemiology department highlighted that there are half a million people who have already registered but have not yet used the vaccination option. Appointments for AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Sputnik and Sinopharm can now be booked. On Tuesday, 334,620 doses of Pfizer vaccine arrived in Hungary, of which 175,000 can be used for the first vaccination.
