As part of the social responsibility of Gedeon Richter Plc., which celebrated its 120th anniversary in 2021, it will set up a park in Debrecen together with the local government of the City of Debrecen. The aim of the long-term initiative is for the company to take this symbolic step to protect and raise the standard of the local environment. The installation took place on June 23, 2021 in the Alma mater grove. The event was attended by László Papp, Mayor of Debrecen, Member of Parliament László Pósán and Attila Mile, Head of the Debrecen Biotechnology Site of Gedeon Richter Plc.

With the support of Richter Gedeon Plc., 68 Japanese ornamental cherry trees are now located in the park between the Vágóhíd Street overpass and Budai Ézsaiás Street. With this, the pharmaceutical company wants to signal to future generations that supporting education will remain paramount in the future.
Member of Parliament László Pósán emphasized that a climate emergency was never declared in Debrecen, but a lot of trees had already been planted.

In addition to the current action, the 10,000 trees to Debrecen program will continue, in the framework of which 3,400 horticultural seedlings have been planted so far. This year, the local government will spend a total of HUF 163 million on tree planting.
