A stormwater drainage system is being built on Cinege Street in Debrecen

Local News

The construction of the stormwater drainage system of the Biczó István garden on the István Biczó garden will be implemented as the own investment of the Debrecen municipality. Szabolcs Komolay, the local government representative of the area, reported on the works in a press conference on July 8, 2021.

As Szabolcs Komolay emphasized, the gross investment of HUF 22 million, financed entirely from the local government budget, will be implemented as part of the Horticultural Development Program. This program was initiated by the Fidesz-KDNP faction of the city assembly almost ten years ago with the aim of providing a more livable, better living environment for those living in the gardens through infrastructural developments, which they also wanted and expected.

In connection with the construction of the stormwater drainage system on Cinege Street, the needs of the population also met with the development ideas of the city. This street is in the deepest part of the area, where rainwater collects during heavy rains, sometimes even endangering houses. Thus, the solution of this problem has become more and more urgent, which, according to Szabolcs Komolay, will serve the joy of the people living here.

During the investment, open trenches will be made on Cinege Street, from which a closed stormwater drainage section will transfer water to the existing closed stormwater drainage channel on Fülemüle Street, which will eventually go to Kondoros. The total length of the open and closed system on Cinege Street, which also includes Fülemüle Street for a short section through the connection, will be more than 500 meters.

As Szabolcs Komolay said, if the weather conditions allow, the construction of the stormwater drainage system on Cinege Street will be completed by the end of the summer. After that – within the framework of the so-called rolling development plan – Debreceni Vízmű Zrt. will build the drinking water network in the street.
