The Debrecen District Prosecutor’s Office has indicted a man for storing more than 300 counterfeit branded products in his home for violating industrial property rights.
As part of an inspection, the treasurers of the county department of the National Tax and Customs Office carried out a trial purchase in the grocery store operated at the defendant’s home in Nyírábrány. The inspectors were served by the accused’s wife, and after the purchase, they also inspected the residential property next to the store. During the investigation, financiers found three different, more well-known branded garments, purses and bags that the accused had taken from a friend for safekeeping.
During the investigation carried out by the Hajdú-Bihar County Tax and Customs Directorate of the National Tax and Customs Office, it was found that the clothing products seized from the man were only imitations, and the brand marks on them could be confused with the original markings.
The defendant violated the relevant legal regulations by keeping the counterfeit products in stock, causing a total of more than HUF 800,000 in damages to the affected rightsholders, the claimants requested compensation for the damage during the investigation.
The Debrecen District Prosecutor’s Office brought charges against the accused for violating three ordinary industrial property rights in the Debrecen District Court. In the indictment for the prosecution, the district prosecutor’s office requested that the district court prosecute without trial, based on the content of the case, and try the accused as a measure, and grant the civil claim filed by the trademark owners.
