The electronics plant of Sensirion was handed over in Debrecen

The sensor manufacturing plant of Sensirion Holdin AG in Switzerland was handed over in Debrecen on Tuesday, the investment was realized in the joint development of the Szinorg and Xanga group of companies in the innovation and technology park of Határ út for about ten million euros.

László Papp, the mayor of Debrecen, said that the city has become an increasingly important player in the economy over the past twenty years, and this will continue to grow. “Today, there is no continent on earth where we would not find products made in Debrecen,” said the mayor, who called the city committed to the success of Sensirion.

The mayor thanked Sensirion for building its first European manufacturing plant outside the mainland in Debrecen and creating 200 new jobs by 2025.

Jean-Francois Paroz, Switzerland’s ambassador to Budapest, called the economic relationship between the two countries great, indicating that there are more than 800 Swiss companies in Hungary that employ 32,000 people.

Johannes Bleuel, Vice President of Sensirion Holding AG, said they had serious plans in Debrecen: they had recently decided to set up a research and development (R&D) center in addition to the production plant and to develop the product range.

Currently, sensors are being manufactured for medical ventilators in Debrecen, and the first sensors that save lives have already been delivered. Other products made in the city serve energy efficiency in the automotive industry, but in a few months they will also start manufacturing sensors suitable for monitoring the environment and measuring methane emissions, the vice president listed.

István Herdon, CEO of the Xanga Group, indicated that according to their business policy, they had handed over the factory building to Sensirion on a turnkey basis, which installed the technology as a tenant. He added that several thematic financial funds have been established together with MFB Invest Zrt., Including the Debrecen Industrial Development Fund (DIA) with a capital of about HUF 30 billion, which provides the long-term financial resources necessary for investments.
