The new 1,200-square-meter plant of Kathi Farm Kft., which deals with beef and lamb processing and is equipped with a unique production line in Hungary, was handed over in Debrecen on September 29, the mayor of Debrecen announced.
László Papp said at the handover: he developed an exemplary family business in Debrecen, which also succeeded in generational change.
We handed over the new plant of Kathi Farm Kft., which deals with beef and lamb processing and is equipped with a unique production line in Hungary. The sector reached a low point in Debrecen 10 years ago, but today about 30 percent of the turnover and number of employees of food companies are related to the meat industry.
At the handover event, László Pósán, Member of Parliament, also welcomed the development: It is important for the Hungarian people to have Hungarian producers, Hungarian and high-quality products on their table. To serve this, the owners of Kathi Farm Kft. are at the forefront as a “good example” in Debrecen, who will soon employ 40 people with their new meat processing plant – said László Pósán.
The head of the company, Zoltán Kathi, was more modest. According to him, they will start work at the plant with 20 people, but they are also thinking about expansion.
The investment was also supported by a call for tenders for farmers. They received HUF 264 million in support from the Hungarian state and the European Union for the investment.
