The Green City Program in the Salt House district was completed earlier than planned. As part of the investment, a new playground was built, a sports field was renovated, and park walkways were also created.
In one of the oldest housing estates in the city, Sóház, built in the 1960s, we had the opportunity to implement the Green City Program. The development affected 16 thousand square meters, of which 11 thousand square meters of green space was renewed. We tried to make this part of the city greener with grassing, shrub planting and planting 48 new trees. We created a new 700 square meter playground with 14 new play equipment and built a gym for those living in the area. We also aimed to increase security during the development, we installed 12 space surveillance cameras and 3 new lampposts.
– said Mayor László Papp.
The Green City Programs will be continued in other large housing estates in the district. The works are taking place in Újkert, the public procurement procedure of Tócóskert is also coming to an end, we will be able to announce results there soon. We work in all parts of the city, we build the city in order to make the people who live there feel good.
A major renovation took place here in the Sóház district. This part of the city has become more livable and valuable. I am confident that this will later attract and encourage even more young people to find a home in this area and more and more schoolchildren to discover this unique playground of its kind, with caring play elements not seen elsewhere, such as a disabled person swings for children.
– emphasized László Pósán, Member of Parliament.
The Sóház district became involved in the circulation of the Green City Program and became one of its important hitting forces. This project, this playground, speaks for itself, both in terms of design and appearance, and in terms of environmental awareness, variety of devices and usability for ages. From the youngest to the adolescent and adult, they can use these tools – said József Hetei, the municipal representative.
The project was implemented from HUF 141 million from the European Union and about HUF 32 million from local government sources.
