The Debrecen District Prosecutor’s Office has indicted a man who wanted to leave the country at the airport with a false identity card for the crime of forgery of public documents.
On December 28, 2019, the accused wanted to travel in the early morning hours from Debrecen Airport on one of the flights to the United Kingdom.
When the man applied to leave the country, he handed over a fake ID to the border guard to prove his identity at the border police check. The forged document was in the name of a man of Romanian nationality.
During the search of the accused, his valid Albanian passport issued in his own name was found and criminal proceedings were instituted against him.
The defendant, who is an Albanian citizen, is currently in an unknown location, and the police in Debrecen has issued an arrest warrant against him, which has not yielded any results, so the Debrecen District Prosecutor’s Office has declared the accused absent.
The Debrecen District Prosecutor’s Office brought charges against the accused in the Debrecen District Court for the crime of forgery of public documents. In his indictment, he proposed that the district court impose a fine on the accused during the proceedings in his absence and confiscate the forged document.
