According to the national survey, crime statistics in Debrecen are improving due to the continuously improving quality of life and the growing number of job opportunities, said Lajos Barcsa, Deputy Mayor of Debrecen, referring to a survey published in Blikk.
The survey revealed that in 2021, the highest number of crimes in Hungary was in Nyírbátor and the lowest in Nyíradony. The mayor of Debrecen, László Papp, also gave an interview to the paper.
As the financial situation of those living in the city improves and more and more jobs are created, so do the opportunities for earning money, the number of crimes is decreasing
– explains to Blikk László Papp, the mayor Debrecen.
According to the latest Eurostat data, only 676 crimes have been committed in Hajdú-Bihar, making Hajdú-Bihar the safest area in the past year. László Papp also told Blikk about the efficient police work, that there is a very strong cooperation between the police, the surveillance of public areas, the military and the civilian guards, so the number of property crimes and traffic accidents in the city has decreased significantly.
