A twenty-year-old man who blackmailed a 15-year-old girl with sexually explicit photographs and videos of her has been placed under criminal surveillance, according to prosecutors and the court on Wednesday.
According to a statement from the Central Prosecutor’s Office, the man met the then 15-year-old girl in an online dating app in November 2019. There was a well-founded suspicion that the man had persuaded her to send photos of herself that were compromising, “depicting her in minimal clothing”.
After the photos were sent by the victim in hopes of further acquaintance, the man repeatedly threatened to make the photos available to the general public if the girl did not comply with his further demands. As a result of the threats, the minor first sent pictures of herself without clothes and then attached another photo specifically of pornographic nature to another threat that the perpetrator would distribute the pictures to her schoolmates.
However, the man was not satisfied with the newer pictures either, and with additional threats, he forced her to document how she did sexual acts to herself in various locations and ways, and then send those pictures and videos to him. The victim then turned to the police.
The Debrecen Regional Investigation Prosecutor’s Office ordered the detention of the man, then he was guilty of sexual assault on a person under the age of eighteen and interrogated as a suspect for another crime, the prosecutor’s office said.
The Military Council of the Debrecen Tribunal, on the initiative of the prosecutor’s office, ordered the criminal supervision of the man on Wednesday, and also ordered detention in the case – Dénes Dobó, a spokesman for the Debrecen Tribunal, said.
