After the ticket machines, mobile tickets, and other developments for the convenience of passengers, we put into operation the first Smart Bus Stops today, which, in addition to the possibility to buy tickets, are also suitable for detecting the actual location of public transport, said Lajos Barcsa, Deputy Mayor of Debrecen. According to him, developments will continue next year with the upgrade of DKV’s vehicle fleet.
DKV also issued information on smart stops. It turned out that the investment was supported by the European Regional Development Fund.
According to the announcement, DKV has created an easy-to-use smart stop for passengers and tourists arriving in the city at three busy stops in Debrecen. The smart stops were installed by the transport company at the bus stops at the Grand Station and the Csokonai Theater, and at the tram stops at the Clinics.
The devices provide passengers with information on timetable data, real-time vehicle arrival, traffic information, and conditions for using public transport.
With the help of the device, passengers can buy an electronic ticket or even an e-pass on the smart device at the three stops.
The investment that is related to electronic devices was implemented by ONLINET Group Zrt., based in Budapest, on behalf of DKV.
The total cost of investment HUF 41 million, which is 5.1% financed by DKV Zrt., 9.9% by the Government of Hungary, and the remaining 85% by the European Union.
The test phase of the smart stops began on December 6, 2021, and passengers were officially able to take possession of smart devices, another milestone in Civisváros, on December 22, following a press conference accompanied by a ceremonial handover.
DKV is waiting for passengers’ comments and constructive suggestions in order to provide a passenger and user-friendly service with smart stops.
