Within the framework of the Green Bus Program, tenders will be issued for 350 electric buses within a month, in addition to the settlements with a population of more than 25,000, the program will be extended to smaller settlements, the Minister of Innovation and Technology said in Hajdúszoboszló.

The head of the ministry pointed out that the government has set a goal to green the economy, an important element of which is transport, which is responsible for 20 percent of carbon dioxide emissions. It has been decided that from 2022, the purchase of non-electric buses will no longer be supported in settlements with more than 25,000 inhabitants.
László Palkovics called greening a good business and reminded him that the three important elements of the industrial strategy are to be green, high-tech, and Hungarian. He expressed the hope that most of the 6,000 buses that still need to be replaced in the country could be completed in Hungary. The rebuilt Hungarian bus production will be able to do this, he added.
The parliamentary candidate of Sándor Bodó (Fidesz), the parliamentary candidate of the 5th individual constituency of Hajdú-Bihar county, considered it a message for the future that the fully-electric bus appeared in one of the most important tourist centers of the country, Hajdúszoboszló.
The Secretary of State for Employment Policy recalled that a month earlier, modern but still traditionally powered buses had been put into operation in Hajdúszoboszló, but the future is represented by electric propulsion.
The special value of Hajdúszoboszló is the medicinal water, the bath, and the livable environment, which is why it is important to look for environmentally friendly solutions in all areas. Electric buses already represent the values of the 21st century, said Sándor Bodó.

He was pleased to acknowledge that the locals could get acquainted with the electric bus for a few weeks but indicated that together with Volánbusz Zrt. they are applying for electric buses in the spa town in the long run.

As a result, fuel consumption has been reduced by 10 million liters a year and CO2 emissions have been reduced by 30,000 tonnes.
The expert emphasized that with the introduction of modern, comfortable buses, I would like to achieve a real alternative to private transport together with the railway.
