The Debrecen District Prosecutor’s Office has charged a boy who did not follow the rules of the orphanage with a crime of violence against a person performing public duties, and angrily struck the childminder questioning him.

The juvenile is not brought up in his family, he has been living in an orphanage run by one of the churches in Debrecen since 2018.
According to the indictment, on the morning of August 21, 2021, the juvenile was talking to his relatives on a cell phone in addition to the victim working as a childminder. At the end of the period allowed for mobile telephony in the orphanage’s policy, the victim told the boy to end the conversation and return the device. The young man did not comply with this, continued to talk, then shouted in anger at the educator, scolding him with profanity. The victim then reached for the phone at the defendant to take it back, but then the enraged boy grabbed his face and hit him. After the abuse, the boy finally handed over the device.
The victim was not injured as a result of the abuse of the juvenile.
According to the legislation in force, an injured person working as a childminder in a children’s home enjoys special legal protection and qualifies as a person performing a public task.
The investigation was carried out by the Debrecen Police Station.
The juvenile who is currently under arrest in another case has been charged by the Debrecen District Prosecutor’s Office with the Debrecen District Court for the crime of violence against a person performing public duties.
In the indictment, the district prosecutor’s office filed a motion for the district court to try the accused as a measure and to establish that he was under probation for the duration of his probation.
