Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) is announcing an open, national architectural design competition for the renovation of the Golden Bull Hotel in Debrecen and the establishment of a new educational center, the MCC said.
It is written that the wing, which was set in 1976 and is now in poor condition, will be demolished and will be replaced by a new part of the building that will house MCC’s education and talent development program. After that, the Golden Bull will be reconstructed and renovated. The program will involve Debrecen residents, and the mayor and chief architect of the city will also be members of the judging panel.
The goal of the Mathias Corvinus Collegium is to make the Golden Bull Hostel one of the jewels of the city again: instead of the wing in extremely poor condition, MCC plans to build a modern educational center that fits the existing Golden Bull Hotel historic building environment. The original building of the former hostel will be completely renovated. The investment will create a new part of the building to meet MCC’s educational programs, in line with 21st-century expectations, the MCC said in a statement.
