As we reported, the Great Autumn Unloading Fair in Debrecen will not be held this fall. The official justification mentions that many complaints from the public were received about the event.
The organizers announced that they were looking for a new location, and the DERKE – Debrecen Regional Transport Association put the topic to a vote. Four alternative options have been proposed, but they are also open to other ideas:
Western “little boulevard” (Nagy Imre utca – Tisza István utca – Antall József utca):
In any case, there is little traffic there on weekends, it would disturb the traffic significantly less and it can be easily bypassed. The disadvantage is that the traffic of the crossing streets would have to be maintained and crossing would be problematic. Parking would not be easy either, but with good public transport, the area can be well served from any part of the city with additional services.
Vágóhíd street and Zsibi:
Vágóhíd Street itself is wide enough, there is plenty of space even without closing the road, not to mention that the area of Zsibi can also be included. Parking would not be easy here either, because there is either a market or a parking lot.
Nagerdei Stadium:
The stadium and its surroundings can handle the largest festival in Eastern Hungary. It is not really possible to park here, the only question is how lucky it is to burden the Big Forest with another event.
Airport:
There is room, also for parking. The downside is that air traffic may need to be restricted, although this still affects more people than elsewhere.
