The bird flu epidemic reached Hajdú-Bihar county

Local News

The laboratory of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) detected the H5N1 subtype of the bird flu virus at a turkey farm in the Hajdú-Bihar county, Nébih told MTI.

At the Nadudvar farm, which holds more than 25,000 turkeys, the dejection of the animals, the decrease in their consumption of water and feed, and their increasingly frequent deaths raised the suspicion of bird flu. The herd was liquidated, a protection and surveillance zone was designated around the farm, and the partner countries were notified of the incident.

They added that the virus was also found in samples collected in Debrecen. This also supports the fact that flocks must be kept closed and poultry must be prevented from meeting wild birds, the statement reads.

According to the summary on the office’s website, the bird flu virus has been detected in several settlements in Bács-Kiskun and Csongrád-Csanád in recent weeks. The restrictions introduced here are still in effect – Nébih wrote.
