Due to airborne dust, the air quality has again become dangerous in three settlements in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, Putnok, Kazincbarciká and Sajószentpéter, and in Várpalota in Veszprém county, the air quality is also dangerous, according to the report published by the National Public Health Center (NNK) on Friday based on a map describing daily measurements.
The air hygiene index system includes four categories: acceptable, objectionable, unhealthy and dangerous.
Based on NNK data, the air quality in Miskolc, Salgótarján and Pécs is unhealthy.
In thirteen settlements – Szombathely, Győr, Tatabánya, Veszprém, Székesfehérvár, Dunaújváros, Százhalombatta, Tököl, Budapest, Vác, Kecskemét, Debrecen and Nyíregyháza – the air quality was objectionable, the other measuring stations recorded an acceptable value.
According to the forecast of the National Meteorological Service, the southwest and west winds may pick up in the east on Friday, but the air quality may deteriorate mainly in the northern counties.
On Saturday and Sunday, permanently overcast, humid and foggy weather is expected in the northeastern half of the country, and several hours of sunshine are likely elsewhere. Strong southwesterly winds are expected in Transdanubia. Air quality may continue to deteriorate, especially in the northern and northeastern counties.
