The air quality in nine Hungarian settlements is once again dangerous due to airborne dust, according to the data of the map of the previous day’s measurements published by the National Center for Public Health (NNK) on Friday.

The air hygiene index system has four categories: acceptable, objectionable, unhealthy and dangerous.

According to NNK data, the air quality in the Sajó valley in Putno, Kazincbarcik, Sajószentpéter and Miskolc, as well as in Eger, Békéscsaba, Kecskemét, Pécs and Százhalombatta, is dangerous due to the concentration of airborne dust.

The air of another eleven settlements – Hernádszurdok, Salgótarján, Debrecen, Szeged, Tököl, Vác, Tatabánya, Székesfehérvár, Várpalota, Ajka and Mosonmagyaróvár – was classified as unhealthy.

The air quality of six settlements – Nyíregyháza, Szolnok, Dunaújváros, Budapest, Esztergom and Sopron – is objectionable according to the data from the measuring stations.

According to the forecast of the National Meteorological Service, the probability of precipitation will increase from Friday evening, and thanks to this, an improvement in air quality is expected in the north and northeast. During the weekend, the weather will become more changeable and windy, so an improving trend in air quality can be expected across the country.
