Firefighters had transported the World War II. German anti-tank grenade found on Sámson road in Debrecen, the communications officer of the firefighter regiment of the Hungarian Defense Forces told MTI on Tuesday afternoon.
Staff sergeant Bálint Bólyi said that the German anti-tank grenade with a diameter of 7.5 centimeters had been found in an unfired state during sewerage works on Sámsoni road.
He added that the surroundings of the grenade were searched, but no more explosive devices were found. The anti-tank grenade was removed and transported by the firemen, it will later be destroyed under controlled conditions by the soldiers in the blasting area designated for it. For the duration of the operation, the area around Sámsoni road was closed in a radius of one hundred meters, and nine buildings – with a total of twenty people – were evacuated.
