Taste of Canaan, Palya Bea, and the June scent of the forest in Debrecen: from June 14th to 16th, the country’s finest restaurants and chefs will come together at the 8th Debrecziner Gourmet to show where Hungarian gastronomy stands today.
Alongside Stylish Rural Dining and Debrecen’s best restaurants, celebrity chefs will also be present as guest exhibitors. Whether it’s fine dining restaurants, bistros, or food trucks, we can be sure that they will creatively prepare their dishes, constantly seeking new paths. Sponsored by Master Good, this three-day event will feature mouthwatering bites, exciting textures, and unique ingredient pairings, along with fantastic desserts, craft beers, quality wines, and innovative cocktails for visitors to enjoy. The Debrecziner Gourmet Award, established in 2018, will once again be up for grabs this year, and the best exhibitor will take it home based on the votes of the event’s attendees.
The festival will feature 34 exhibitors, including Babel Budapest, Iszkor (Mályinka), Páva (Székelyudvarhely), Bobajka (Tarcal), Almavirág (Derecske), and Horgonyzó (Tiszalök). Among this year’s accompanying programs, Tiago Sabarigo’s cooking demonstration and tasting, the Street Kitchen roundtable and book presentation, the Coffee Roasting show with Wellington, and even a Molecular Cocktail Show and Stand-Up Comedy promise to be exciting. Plus, you can even catch the European Championship matches while snacking. Hosted by András Jókuti
The 2024 theme is the four elements
In 2024, all our exhibitors can unleash their imagination and showcase their creativity, as this time, the focus will be on the four elements: fire, water, air, and earth. Motifs, colors, animals, or even the changing seasons can be associated with the elements, giving chefs tremendous creative freedom to uniquely present their culinary creations. The theme is open to interpretation, with no restrictions on ingredients, leaving it up to the creativity and imagination of the organizers.
Shining brightly is the Michelin star: On March 27, 2019, Babel Budapest was awarded a Michelin star for the first time in its history. Although the restaurant has been operating since 2008 with occasional breaks, it continues to innovate and look ahead. In November 2022, the restaurant once again received a Michelin star.
