Debrecen City Council announced on Tuesday that EVE Power Kft. has submitted its industrial safety report to the Hajdú-Bihar County Government Office following the initiation of the environmental permit procedure.
The full document is available on the website of Debrecen City Council (www.debrecen.hu) and on the debeceniakkugyar.hu website operated by EDC Debrecen. The documents can be accessed in full without any restrictions, and questions and comments can be submitted during the online public hearing to be held at a later stage of the process. Citizens will receive written answers to their questions within the legal deadline.
The council requests the Hajdú-Bihar County Government Office to “carry out its task with the same thorough and rigorous professional approach as it has done in the case of previous industrial investors.” They expect EVE Power Hungary Kft. to continue its investment only with the appropriate permits, in strict compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and to regularly inform the residents of Debrecen and the public about the progress of the investment.
The statement emphasizes that industrial developments in Debrecen must be implemented and operated in full compliance with environmental requirements and industrial safety regulations. The close cooperation between the local government and the government office and the development of the Environmental Monitoring System, which is already under construction, serve this purpose.
According to the council, as promised, the water demand of large industrial consumers will be met from a mixture of treated wastewater and surface water, thus protecting groundwater. They welcome EVE Power Hungary Kft.’s commitment to use treated wastewater in its plant and to ensure the fire water demand from technological dilution water in order to optimize water use.
The council states that the city of Debrecen is fulfilling all the promises it has made regarding economic development, and the preparation and implementation of the necessary investments are progressing at the appropriate pace.
According to previous information, EVE Power is building a high-tech plant in the northwest economic zone of Debrecen: as a supplier to the BMW car factory, they will produce cylindrical battery cells for the new generation of electric cars. The energy density of their battery cells will be 20% higher than before, allowing them to increase the range of electric vehicles by 30% and reduce charging time by the same amount.
