On November 26, 2024, the Municipality of Debrecen, the University of Debrecen Clinical Center, and the Faculty of General Medicine held a commemorative ceremony to honor Dr. Ágnes Bégány Jókayné, a former university associate professor and municipal representative. A birch tree was planted in front of the Dermatology Clinic to celebrate the 70th anniversary of her birth.
Dr. Bégány’s Legacy
Dr. Andrea Szegedi, Director of the Dermatology Clinic, praised Dr. Bégány for her lasting impact in the fields of melanoma treatment, diagnostics, and oncology patient care. Known for her dedication and compassion, she introduced lifelong care approaches for cancer patients at the clinic.
Dr. Ágnes Bégány also contributed to public health initiatives in Debrecen, advocating for preventive health measures and organizing health awareness programs. She served in various leadership roles, including as a member of the Hungarian Dermatological Society and the local government’s health and social committee.
