Young university students’ creations were exhibited at the BMW Group Plant Debrecen as part of an art project. Hans-Peter Kemser, President and CEO of BMW Manufacturing Hungary Kft., emphasized that young people and emerging talents are the key to the future.
Seven artworks created by university students were displayed at the Debrecen plant. The concepts behind the works had been previously presented at the MODEM Modern and Contemporary Arts Centre.
– “The artworks reflect the students’ Hungarian cultural heritage, combined with a modern, digital vision of the future. These creations embody the BMW iFACTORY philosophy, which blends a modern and responsible industrial environment,” said Nicole Haft-Zboril, Vice President of Facility Management at BMW Manufacturing.
The art program was launched in spring 2023 to support talented university students’ projects in architecture and design. The initiative involved the University of Debrecen, Eszterházy Károly Catholic University, and the Hungarian University of Fine Arts.
– “Young people and emerging talents guarantee our future. That’s why we at BMW, both here in Debrecen and around the world, invest heavily in youth. A great example of this is our dual education program and partnership with the University of Debrecen,” highlighted Hans-Peter Kemser.
BMW Group Plant Debrecen has been running a dual education program since 2023, with 300 students enrolled in this form of training from September onward. Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa stated that BMW is not just a major economic player in Debrecen but much more.
– “BMW is a true strategic partner for our city. Here, not only is the future of electric vehicles being built, but also a shared vision that unites industry, education, culture, and social responsibility,” said Barcsa.
As reported by debrecen.hu, a study trip was also organized for the exhibiting students, including a visit to BMW Group’s global headquarters. Over the past five decades, the automotive company has launched more than 100 art projects worldwide and supported over 500 young talents.
