This spring, the village of Csókakő once again hosted the portable fire pump assembly competition organized by the National Directorate General for Disaster Management (BM OKF) on April 14. A total of nine teams, including the host county Fejér, competed in the “battle of water jets,” testing their speed, skill, and preparedness.
At the opening ceremony, Ildikó Lévai expressed her joy that the settlement continues to host the championship year after year. Returning and new teams were welcomed by Tamás Hábermayer, county disaster management director, who wished the participants a safe, fair competition and an enjoyable time before officially opening the event.
Each team completed the competition task twice. At the starting signal, competitors assembled water jets using equipment placed next to the portable fire pump and set up water supply lines from a tank. Firefighters then had to draw water with the pump and, through hoses and nozzles, aim to fill target containers at the far end of the course as quickly as possible. Successful completion was indicated by a rising marker, at which point judges stopped the timer. Performances were evaluated according to official competition rules, with final rankings based on the fastest assembly time.
The championship was won by the Capital Disaster Management Directorate with a time of 33.26 seconds, successfully defending their title from last year. Second place went to the multiple-time champion firefighters from Püspökladány in Hajdú-Bihar County, finishing in 35.49 seconds. The bronze medal, with a time of 36.49 seconds, was awarded to the team from Székesfehérvár representing Fejér County.
A special prize offered by the municipality of Csókakő for the best team was also awarded to the firefighters from the capital.
