When the Debrecen Flower Carnival comes to an end, most people remember the flower floats, music, dancers, lights and the unforgettable moments that bring the city to life year after year.
This time, Főnix Event Organiser Ltd. turned the camera around and focused on the people behind the scenes who made the 2026 Debrecen Flower Carnival possible, compiling the event’s final figures from their perspective.
Over the course of six days, more than 350 events were held, while 12 flower floats travelled through Debrecen. The parade could be watched from nine grandstands, and several hundred thousand flowers were used to create the elaborate compositions. Nearly a quarter of a million visitors attended the carnival.
A total of 7,800 people visited the Flower Float Promenade, while the daytime and evening parades offered a combined 6,300 seats for spectators. The number of people watching from standing areas is impossible to estimate.
There were 49 concerts and musical performances across four venues, featuring artists from 20 countries. Nearly 100 exhibitors and vendors took part in the carnival, while the parade itself covered approximately 8 kilometres.
On one evening alone, thousands of decorated bicycles rolled through Debrecen at the same time. Thanks to the carnival’s spectacular light projections, the city was illuminated for a total of 17.5 hours.
Behind the scenes, the numbers were impressive too. The event organiser’s five photographers walked a combined 360,000 steps over six days and took nearly 80,000 photographs. A total of 1.5 terabytes of video footage preserves the events, while at least 3,000 cups of coffee helped the team stay on their feet throughout the six-day carnival.
Carnival-related content was viewed 9,247,348 times, with a combined viewing time of 116 days and 20 hours.
Some 200 Főnix colleagues, external staff members, presenters, interns, photographers, group leaders and section escorts contributed to the organisation, helping transform Debrecen into a carnival city for six days.
