23 types of rice and 10 kinds of puffed rice were tested, all products have been found arsenic.Arsenic-contaminated rice and puffed rice were found by the Conscious Costumers’ Association (Tudatos Vásárlók Egyesülete) in Hungary, however it was noted that the contaminant did not exceed the EU limit value in any product – the association said to MTI.
According to the statement, the Conscious Costumers’ Association has been investigating 23 different types of rice and 10 kinds of puffed rice available in supermarkets and bio stores.
In the case of Goodfood Bio puffed rice with sea salt, arsenic contamination almost reached the 0,3 mg per kilogram, and in the case of Tesco Rice Cakes (Natur Rice) arsenic and cadmium contamination was above the average.
In the case of Riso scotti “A” quality long-grain rice from Italy, the amount of arsenic contamination was very close to the EU limit.
