The rate of population decline increased in the first nine months of 2019 after 1.6% fewer births and about as many deaths were registered compared with the same period last year, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said.
In the first nine months of the year, 66,257 children were born, 1,066 fewer than in the same period last year, while 97,536 people died, 14 fewer than in Jan-Sept 2018.
The rate of natural population decline was 3.5% higher than in the same period a year earlier, the KSH said.
The number of marriages increased, with 52,079 couples tying the knot, 20% more than in the same period last year, and the highest number since 1990.
