A decree published in the latest issue of the official gazette Magyar Közlöny allows travel agents to issue vouchers instead of paying cash for cancellations made because of the coronavirus pandemic, but only if the clients who have cancelled opt in.
The decree requires clients who have cancelled to approve the offer of the vouchers within a period of 15 days. If the client does not issue such approval, or if they reject the vouchers outright, the travel agent must make the refund in cash. The decree sets a cut-off date of August 31, 2020 for the provision. The vouchers issued at no additional cost to the client will be valid until August 31, 2021.
