The government has called a tender for 500 million forints (EUR 1.4m) in support for cultural initiatives of ethnic minorities in Hungary, state secretary for church and ethnic minority ties Miklós Soltész said in Tata, west of the capital, on Sunday.
Speaking at the inauguration of a renovated Stations of the Cross, Soltész said applications for funding between 200,000 forints and 1.5 million forints to support preservation of heritage and culture would be accepted. The tender announcement, on the website of the Bethlen Gábor Fund Management Company, shows applicants do not need to match any of the grant money. Applications are being accepted until December 2.
The renovation of the Stations of the Cross was supported by 25 million forints in grant money from the State Secretariat for Church and Ethnic Minority Ties and the local council of Tata. The application for the grant money was submitted by the local government of the ethnic German minority.
