The European Union’s Covid vaccine procurement strategy has proven ineffective, and it has become clear that only strong nation-states are capable of getting on top of the crisis, Justice Minister Judit Varga said on the sidelines of a meeting of the bloc’s General Affairs Council.
In a video on Facebook, Varga said that during the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic it had become clear that the EU’s procurement of vaccines was too slow and that “the Brussels bureaucracy is keeping secrets.” She said “another important lesson” of the past year was that only strong and sovereign nation-states were capable of managing the crisis.
