The opposition LMP will submit amendment proposals to the 2022 draft budget to boost what they called a “shamefully and unacceptably” low green spending.
Party co-leader Erzsébet Schmuck on Thursday told an online press conference that the 2022 draft budget allocated 335 billion forints (EUR 954.7m) to “green spending”, nominally less than the spending in 2012, which came to 337 billion. In the budget, the government favours nuclear energy to sustainable energies, and spends lavishly on car and motor sports while slashing the budget for national parks, Schmuck said. LMP will submit amendments to boost spending on reducing air pollution, creating adaptable agriculture, making polluted localities habitable, and damage control at abandoned industrial sites and asbestos removal from buildings, she said.
