The state is offering 5.4 million sqm of real estate to small settlements as part of the government’s Hungarian Villages programme, a government official said on Tuesday.
The offer includes 2,055 properties available to 935 local councils, Andrea Máger, the Minister without portfolio responsible for managing national assets, told a news conference. Documentation regarding the free transfer of property will be sent to municipalities this week and in the first weeks of June. Municipalities are free to accept or reject the offer, and responses are expected by mid-July. Asset transfer procedures are scheduled to get under way from that start of next year.
