The government has called a new 3 billion forint (EUR 8.6m) tender for subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles from Monday, Attila Steiner, state secretary for energy and climate policy of the Innovation and Technology Ministry, said.
Private individuals resident in Hungary can apply for subsidies for one EV and civil organisations and higher education institutions based in the country can request subsidies for five vehicles. The subsidies are capped at 1.5 million forints or 2.5 million forints depending on the vehicles’ size and price. Last year, the government awarded close to 5.9 billion forints in subsidies for the purchase of EVs.
