The price of fuels is slowly reaching 500 forints per liter. For most motorists, this is already too much.
Fuel prices will rise again- average prices may be close to HUF 600
The world price of crude oil is rising, there is a good chance that after the rise in prices on Wednesday, we will reach the price of 500 forints per liter on Friday. Napi.hu has conducted a survey on how long motorists tolerate price increases and when the point comes when they would rather not use their ride at all.
According to a representative study by Pulzus, 66 percent of regular drivers already understand their bank account when refueling and trying to significantly reduce car use. More than one-fifth of motorists reconsider their driving habits at HUF 600, 8% at HUF 800 and 3% at HUF 1,000. 12 percent of them totally don’t care how much the fuel will cost, who will pay it.
Expensive fuel hurts a little less in Budapest than in the countryside, but the difference is not significant. However, there is a significant difference in terms of educational attainment: presumably, due to the pay gap, 74 percent of those with primary education and only half of graduates are already looking at how much they are refueling. A quarter of those with higher education would refuel even if the fuel cost more than 1,000 forints.
