A fireball exploded over Hungary early Wednesday night, the Kövesligethy Radó Szeizmológiai Obszervatórium said on its Facebook page.
It was written that the fireball could be seen from Budapest to the southwest. Several seismological stations also recorded signs of a bolida (fireball) explosion, the observatory wrote, which also shared an image of the signal recorded by the Csókakő station in the Vértes Mountains on its Facebook page.
Photos and videos about the phenomenon from several cities were also published on the idokep.hu website. It was possible to see it from Debrecen and Püspökladány, among others – it turns out from the comments.
Here is a recording from Szolnok:
Particularly bright meteors are called fireballs. These are usually rocks that race through space at high speed. Entering the Earth’s atmosphere, they encounter resistance and slow down, and the heat and heat thus generated make the phenomenon visible in the night sky.
