The Hungarian Aviation Industry Cluster held its inaugural meeting in Budapest on Monday, after the signing of its charter, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology has said. The cluster aims to increase the R&D&I capacities of aviation industry producers and strengthen their international ties, the ministry said.
The main goal or the cooperation is to lift the Hungarian aviation industry into the European midfield by 2026 before propelling it among the ranks of the leaders by the end of the decade, the ministry cited Innovation and Technology Minister László Palkovics as saying.
In addition to representing the interests of the industry’s economic players, the function of the new cluster will also be to create the conditions for pooling the resources needed to boost the aviation sector and ensure a high level of scientific background, the statement said. Palkovics hailed the recent achievements of Hungary’s aviation industry, noting the Airbus plant under construction in Gyula, the construction of innovative aircraft in Jakabszállás, in central Hungary, and the Pogány airport near Pecs in the south. He also noted the establishment of the Drone Coalition, which now comprises over 100 companies, professional and advocacy organisations as well as scientific and education institutions.
