There will be a nationwide siren rehearsal on Monday, May 9th, the Interior Ministry’s National Disaster Management Directorate said on its Facebook page on Sunday night.
Their post says there will be a so-called “growling” test of the residential alarm system (MoLaRi) from 11 a.m. on Monday morning.
According to the post, a possible chemical substance (gas) can be released into the air due to a possible breakdown or accident in a hazardous industrial plant, the concentration of which is measured by the installed measuring probes (monitoring endpoints) and at the same time the value is indicated at the emergency services.
At the Disaster Response System operating in a 24-hour on-call system, the measured data are evaluated and, if necessary, the affected population is alerted or notified of the rules of conduct via the siren system (alarm endpoints). They add that the system is not being built because of the increased vulnerability of chemical plants, but to ensure a higher level of plant supervision and public safety.
