Due to the risk of thunderstorms, the National Meteorological Service (OMSZ) issued a second-degree warning for three counties on Thursday.

Strong thunderstorms can be expected in the counties of Somogy, Tolna, and Zala. In addition to lightning, the wind and hail that accompany thunderstorms are also a risk – reads the warning forecast delivered to MTI on Wednesday evening.

According to the forecast published on the OMSZ website, from Thursday morning the conditions will be suitable for the formation of thunderstorms in more and more places.

In the afternoon and early evening in the southwestern and southern areas of the country, even violent thunderstorms may form, which may even form into a system during the evening.

In the vicinity of the thunderstorms, gale-force winds (60-80 kilometers/hour, 90-100 kilometers/hour in the case of severe thunderstorms), hail (1-3 centimeters, 2-4 centimeters in the case of severe thunderstorms) should be expected, and from the repeated passage of cells in a short time, locally a larger amount of precipitation (25-40 millimeters) may also fall.

During the evening, the atmosphere will gradually stabilize from the northwest, but there may be a few scattered thunderstorms even late in the evening, it reads.

The highest daytime temperature on Thursday is usually between 18 and 24 degrees in the rainy areas, while it is higher in the southern half of the country, between 25 and 28 degrees.
