Lawmakers on Monday voted to allow the government to request emergency powers in relation to defence and security to be extended from the current 30 days to a maximum of 180 days from Nov. 1.
The vote which also authorises such emergency powers to be granted multiple times was carried with 142 in favour, 31 against and 6 abstentions. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on May 24 declared emergency powers in Hungary in response to the Russia-Ukraine war.
