Former US President Donald Trump pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him in a New York court after he was formally indicted on Tuesday.

The indictment against the previous president contains 34 charges, including falsification of business data.

Donald Trump was transported from the Trump Tower in Manhattan to the courthouse on Tuesday after investigators formally arrested him. He was not handcuffed, and contrary to preliminary expectations, the usual suspect photo was not taken of him.

According to plans, his lawyer will soon present the defense’s position at a press conference.

Donald Trump is the first former president of the United States to face criminal charges in court.

The indictment is based on suspicions that Trump paid an actress a substantial amount of money during the 2016 presidential campaign to keep quiet about their affair.

In 2019, the prosecutor’s office did not initiate a prosecution in the case, and the United States Federal Election Commission also rejected it before last year. It was only after New York County’s Democratic District Attorney Alvin Bragg took office last year that another investigation was conducted.

In the press reports on the background of the case, attention is drawn to the fact that among the election promises of the acting prosecutor was the prosecution of Donald Trump.
