Meteorology: daytime warming will continue to increase on Thursday

The daytime warming will continue to increase on Thursday, and thunderstorms and downpours are to be expected due to the unstable atmosphere, the National Meteorological Service announced.


In the warning delivered to MTI, it was written: daytime warming will increase on Thursday, the average temperature in Transdanubia and between the Danube and Tisza is expected to rise above 27 degrees Celsius. In the central and southeastern parts of the Great Plain, the average temperature is expected to be around 25 degrees Celsius. The highest daytime temperature on Thursday is likely to be between 31 and 38 degrees.

They added: the atmosphere will remain unstable on Thursday, mainly – still – thunderstorms should be expected in the eastern regions, which may be accompanied by downpours, hail and stormy wind gusts. Thunderstorms may drift into Alpokalja on Thursday, and gale-force gusts may be the main accompanying phenomenon there.

Due to the high average daily temperature, the meteorological service issued a second-degree (orange) warning for Thursday for the Transdanubian counties, as well as for the counties of Pest, Bács-Kiskun and Csongrád-Csanád. Here, the average daily temperature can be above 27 degrees Celsius. A first-degree warning is in effect in the counties of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok, Hajdú-Bihar and Békés, the average daily temperature in these counties may exceed 25 degrees.

Due to a thunderstorm, a first-degree warning is in effect for the counties of Vas, Zala, Nógrád, Heves, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok, Hajdú-Bihar, Békés and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg. A first-degree warning was issued for the counties of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg due to a cloudburst.

Due to the incoming cold front on Friday, a second-degree (orange) warning was issued for the entire country, because more intense thunderstorms can be expected.
