It was 30.2 degrees Celsius in Kelebia on Monday early afternoon, which means that April 1st was the first hot day this year, HungaroMet Zrt announced on its Facebook page.
Based on the preliminary data, the heat record for this day has been broken by quite a bit, and we already have the first hot day in 2024. According to HungaroMet, 30.2 degrees were measured in Kelebia early Monday afternoon. The previous heat record for this day was measured in Körmend in 1989, when 27.7 degrees were registered on April 1st.
Cooler days are coming
During the week, the summer weather will take a break for a few days. On Tuesday, the clouds will continue to increase from the west, and in the second half of the night, the sky will also be overcast in the east. From the intense precipitation zone coming from the west, rain and showers are expected in many places, and the sky may even thunder in some places. A large amount may fall in the western and central parts of Transdanubia, while a smaller amount is likely in the Great Plains, and dry parts may remain there. The wind, which is turning more and more to the northwest and west, will strengthen in a large area, and it can suddenly become stormy, especially in the vicinity of the passing cold front. The lowest night temperature will be between 6 and 14 degrees, the weather will be mildest in Tiszántúl.
In the afternoon, the cloudiness and precipitation zone of the front will slowly move towards the northeast – we can expect overcast, rainy landscapes there even in the afternoon – but behind it, the cloudiness will break up, accumulate and the sun will shine. In the afternoon, the formation of cumulus clouds will become stronger in the southwestern part of the country, and showers and thunderstorms may develop in more and more places. With the exception of the southwestern landscapes, strong, stormy gusts may accompany the typically westerly wind over a large area, and the air movement will moderate only in the evening. Storm surges may also occur in the vicinity of a thunderstorm. The highest daytime temperature is mostly between 14 and 19 degrees, in the cloudier northeastern regions it can be a few degrees cooler. Sunny weather with veil clouds is expected on Wednesday, and in the second half of the day, the clouds will thicken from the southwest. Weak precipitation may occur in a few places. The southwest wind is accompanied by lively, strong gusts in many directions. The temperature will rise from 2.8 degrees in the morning to between 15 and 21 degrees, it will be warmer in the south.
We can expect heavily cloudy weather on Thursday night, variable cloudy weather during the day, usually for several hours, with less sunshine in the northeast. Light precipitation may occur, with a greater chance in the north and northeast. The west and south-west winds are lively in many places, accompanied by strong gusts in some places. In the morning, 4, 11, 15, 22 degrees are expected in the afternoon, higher values can be measured in the southwest. On Friday, there is a prospect of partly cloudy weather with several hours of sunshine. There is little chance of precipitation. Lively, sometimes strong gusts accompany the south, southwest wind. The minimum temperature is expected to be between 5 and 11, the maximum temperature between 18 and 25 degrees, the weather will be warmer in the south. On Saturday, you can expect partly cloudy, sunny weather. Precipitation is unlikely. In several places, the south-west wind is getting stronger. The temperature rises from 7.13 degrees in the morning to between 21 and 27 degrees.
We will have slightly cloudy, sunny and dry weather on Sunday. The southerly wind will pick up in places. The minimum temperature is likely to be between 8 and 14 degrees, and the maximum between 22 and 28 degrees.
